About

About The Linux Cast

The Linux Cast is a podcast and YouTube channel dedicated to exploring Linux, open source software, self-hosting, and digital independence. We break down complex technical topics into accessible discussions, review the latest Linux distributions, and share practical tips for everyday Linux users.

Our content ranges from beginner-friendly tutorials to in-depth discussions about privacy, de-Googling, and building your own self-hosted infrastructure. Whether you’re new to Linux or a seasoned veteran, we aim to inform, educate, and occasionally entertain.

About Matt

Matt is the host of The Linux Cast, as well as a writer, historian, and voracious reader. Beyond Linux and technology, he explores books, philosophy, politics, and life on this blog. It’s a digital space for thoughtful rambling, honest takes, and the occasional rant about modern computing.

When he’s not recording podcasts or writing, you’ll find him tinkering with self-hosted services, exploring new distros, or buried in a good book.

The Team

The Linux Cast wouldn’t be complete without our regular contributors and co-hosts who bring their own expertise and perspectives to the show:

Drew (Just A Guy Linux) - Drew runs his own channel focusing on practical Linux tutorials and reviews. He brings hands-on experience and a no-nonsense approach to desktop Linux. Known for his love for Debian and the Geany text editor, Drew brings a stability to the podcast that not many others could.

Nate (Nate Picks Tech) - Nate is our hardware guy, specializing in bringing Linux and other FOSS projects to life on older hardware. Known for his love of monitors and the (horrible) Dallas Cowboys, which hopefully says more about his poor football taste than it does about his Linux IQ.

Tyler (Zaney OG) - Tyler is an Open Source enthusiast who brings his expertise on NixOS and other FOSS projects to the pod.

Together, we form a community of Linux enthusiasts who believe in the power of open source software and user freedom.
